Rick Fredrickson is being shafted, AGAIN

Today, Saturday October 28th, was supposed to be the day that Rick (the Saskatoon father fighting for the right to raise his son) was to meet his son. Once again Nicola Roller and her husband have blocked the visitation attempt. You see, this week Justice J.A. Ryan-Froslie ordered that Rick be able to see his son and that the visitation happen as soon as possible. The Judge believes, as I do, that it is imperative that the child see his father as soon as possible. This child is in his formative stages and is making bonds that will be important to him for the rest of his life. The Rollers blocked the order simply by appealing it. Family Services advised Rick that they can not enforce an order that is being appealled.

I am both shocked and appalled at this couple's behaviour. Nicola herself is an "Art Therapist" for children. You would think with her experience and education she would understand the importance of a child having his father in his life. She has chosen to ignore this basic need, and in my eyes basic RIGHT. Which leads me to believe that she does not have the child's best interest at heart and is instead selfish and self serving. I do hope the the esteemed judges that ultimately decide this case, take her attitude and behaviour in to consideration when making a final decision with relation to the child.

Nicola Roller is not only an Art Therapist, she has been used as an expert witness in several custody disputes. Nicola Roller is also a recognized custody and access assessment evaluator whose own testimony and report was instrumental in a Judge ordering that a father was to have sole custody. Nicola Rollers position has also been utilized by CFS regarding a few court cases. This is no spring chicken when it comes to knowing the criterium for the best interest of the child. She realizes that the best interest term is used loosley to fit any agenda, including her own to sustain her own status quo.

Although the contempt charge is in reserve, the Rollers lawyer is very lucky he wasn't yet found in contempt. Whatever his evidence was to support his defence is now just a fart in the wind considering his most recent attepmt at further alienating Rick from the life of his son Brekker.

How can the court maintain honour and credibility with the public by allowing the Rollers a third chance, infact this cat has already used up its nine lives since the day it took Brekker form the hospital. Case law and popular opinion suport custody to be reversed, that in itself would be justice and certainly would be the best interest of the child.

This is an important case on a national scale, it could set an awful precedent if Rick loses. I do not believe for a minute Rick would lie down and take the lose. Expect this case to reach the SCC if need be, wholey supported by the Canadian public and the equality provisions of the Canadian Charter.
